Yoga Anatomy Online Course for YTTCs

Many Yoga Teacher Training Courses incorporate my 30-Hour Yoga Anatomy Online Course into their training.

  • I create a bespoke version of the course for each training where the modules can be drip-fed to meet a timeline that works for you (see the breakdown by module here).

  • Trainees have the opportunity to interact with me live every 5 weeks during online Q&As that I hold for everyone using the anatomy course.

  • Each trainer has the option to check in on their trainees’ progress throughout the duration of the training.

  • Each module has a detailed handout that the trainees can download and these combine to form a 70-page manual. You can also include this manual in your printed materials.

  • The course meets the requirements for Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School teacher trainings.

Contact me if you are a yoga teacher trainer and would like to find out about economical ways to do this. There is no minimum number of students required. Yoga Teacher Trainers can sign up for a free trial of the 30-hour course so that they can be confident that it is the right fit for their training.

I have known Andrew for many years. In short, every one of my students has loved him, with comments like ‘he makes it relevant to yoga, clear, practical, fun and accessible …the list goes on.
— Susannah
Anatomy can be such a tricky subject for yoga teachers - it’s not always our first love. But Andrew has an incredible way of simplifying and clarifying it in a way that makes total sense and makes it all about yoga. To answer the questions how does this work and how can I use it in yoga. We’ve used Andrews courses for many years and will definitely continue to. They are superb.
— Ian Davis
Dr. Yogi’s course is perfectly designed for those training to become yoga teachers. The content is thorough, understandable and in a format that is completely adaptable to learning. It’s aimed at exactly what yoga teachers need to know to teach effectively and safely. Most importantly, the students really enjoy learning from this course.
— Diana
Dr. Andrew McGonigle has been our Anatomy Tutor of choice for yoga teacher training courses for over 12 years, both in person and with his very excellent online course. In my 30 years of experience in training yoga teachers, he is simply the best, and as both a medically trained doctor and a professional yoga teacher himself, he has unique insights and wisdom borne of experience to share with newly trained teachers. This is simply invaluable.

The course is carefully crafted especially for yoga teachers, and Andrew makes the science and anatomy easily accessible for everyone. He is always available with advice and support if there are any problems, but from our experience, students find the course very easy to navigate and organise their own study.

We have found that for students who are new to anatomy and for those who are very familiar, such as nurses and physios who are training as yoga teachers, Andrew’s way of sharing the science of anatomy & physiology inspires new levels of understanding and integration for the experienced people and inspires amazing curiosity and a desire to know more in the newcomers. I think this is the sign of a great teacher. I heartily recommend and endorse his online anatomy course for yoga teachers, with much gratitude to him.
— Rev. Padma Devi Sumananda
My students are just reaching the end of a 21-month BWY Certificate Teacher Training course in which they were required to complete Andrew’s yoga anatomy course and submit written answers to the homework sections and the results page of each quiz set for the six modules. Practically all of the 12 students found the course easy to follow, excellent for looking at the practical implications in yoga practice and demonstrating this in their assessment work and teaching practice.
— Perry
I have been running my teacher training course for 4 years now. Each year I have worked with Andrew and included his anatomy course as part of my training, for the students to learn from and study throughout their time with me.

Andrew’s course is easy to follow, practical and informative. It gives an in depth learning into anatomy and physiology in a really easy to understand way. I like that the modules range in their complexity so we can choose elements to focus on depending on what we are looking at, and the students are able to work on their level with each section.

Andrew is also a very personable human. He is super knowledgeable but always has time to actually converse and show his humanness which many online anatomy courses do not offer.

As he runs monthly live sessions the students can get to know him as a teacher and have that time to ask questions and dive deeper if they need. I have only had positive feedback from Dr Yogi’s training courses.

Being a training partner with the British Wheel of Yoga, Andrew’s Anatomy Course has become a cornerstone of my training programmes. His clear, in-depth teaching and the generous support he gives through live online Q&A sessions has made him feel truly like a co-tutor on the course. Working alongside Andrew offers personal enrichment to be an inspired yoga teacher yourself, alongside being a confidence-building presence for new teachers.

His work has enriched the lives of everyone involved in the Cambridge New Wave courses, and I am incredibly grateful for it. I cannot recommend studying with Andrew enough. He brings anatomy to life in a way that directly enriches yoga practice and teaching.

I’m thrilled to continue offering this anatomy course to my students on new BWY offerings for yoga teachers to take their learning to the next level. Andrew’s course material and excellent books are invaluable tools that support their journey.
— Tiffany
I have used Andrew’s Yoga Anatomy 30-hour course to underpin the teaching of the BWY Yoga Teaching Diploma Teacher Training I deliver. Andrew has an engaging manner and extensive knowledge of anatomy and has the ability to relate it to yoga practice. My students have greatly benefited from following his course, and I have appreciated his input. I would wholeheartedly recommend Andrew’s course and will continue to refer to him.
— Donna
Ourselves and students loved the Dr Yogi online course as part of the teacher training program that we offer. The students found it accessible and helpful that they could do this at home in their own time. We found that it complemented the course that we were offering, and our knowledge on anatomy is limited and we wanted our students to get the best possible resources so that they could offer confident and appropriate classes to whoever showed up to their classes.
— Becky
Andrew is a joy to have on our 200-hour Yoga Learning Hub teacher training. He makes anatomy and physiology clear, practical, and directly relevant to teaching yoga. Our trainees love his engaging style and emphasis on inclusivity, leaving them confident to support students of all abilities. I’d highly recommend him to any yoga school.
— Susan

I’ve been including Dr Yogi’s anatomy course in my Yoga Teacher Trainings for the last four intakes, and it has been such a valuable complement to the program. I encourage my students to study a module each month, and we dedicate time on our weekend timetable to review and integrate the learning together. The course is fantastic—clear, practical, and easy to absorb in small, manageable chunks. Most importantly, it feels directly applicable to teaching and practice, which makes the content come alive. My students always love this part of the training. Thank you, Andrew, for creating such a brilliant resource and for supporting the next generation of teachers so well.
— Esme
I have been using Andrew’s Anatomy and Physiology module as part of my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and it has been such a fantastic addition to the course. My students found it really engaging, clear, and informative, and it gave them a solid understanding of how the body works in relation to yoga.

I really appreciate the ease and flexibility of the online content — it’s accessible and user-friendly, even for those who have never studied anatomy and physiology before. I also love how Andrew blends the science of the body with the practice of yoga in such a meaningful and practical way.

I am already looking forward to using this module again next year and would highly recommend it to anyone running a teacher training programme.
— Christine
My trainees rave about Andrew’s online anatomy course and find it incredibly valuable and easy to follow. Adding it to my Yogi Maha Method 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training was the best decision I ever made. It makes my training more comprehensive and helps my graduates feel prepared and confident to teach safe and powerful yoga classes
— Maha
We truly appreciated the ease and clarity Andrew brought to the anatomy portion of our yoga teacher training. His lessons flowed seamlessly and took a huge weight off our shoulders, allowing us to focus more deeply on what matters most to us—yoga philosophy, asana, lineage, etc. Both our students and we loved the humor Andrew wove into his teaching, which made the longer, in-depth sessions feel engaging and approachable. We would highly recommend this anatomy course to any teacher looking for a supportive and effective way to enrich their YTT.
